France is our specialty! Beginning in 2000, our first guided tours of France were to Provence and the Riviera. Our repeat customers, who enjoy our style of travel, asked us to create new tours to different regions. At their request, we have added tours to Languedoc, the French Alps and now introducing Southern Brittany. We love having our repeat travelers return to France with us. Our customers’ ideas and input are valuable in determining where we go and the types of activities we include. We appreciate your encouragement and your loyalty!
Best of France Travels has been offering small group luxury guided tours of France since 2000. We visit lots of out of the way places that are virtually undiscovered by the average tourist. We have developed relationships with locals who are experts in wine, gastronomy, history, and know the secrets such as when the chestnut festival is held, where to hunt for mushrooms, strange and mysterious liqueurs we’ve never heard of, where to get the best oysters, which day the local café meals are prepared by the grand-mere (and therefore the best day to eat there!)…We will share many of these finds with our customers on our tours.
The owner, Carol Etheridge, personally accompanies every tour. She taught French in Atlanta for 11 years. She studied at the Sorbonne in Paris, and lived in Annecy in the French Alps where she taught English in a French public school. Carol is a Fulbright Scholar and also received a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship to study folk arts and traditions of the French Alps. She loves sharing the beauty, history, and culture of France with all of her customers!
“We both want to tell you again what a WONDERFUL time we had. It was even better than our most optimistic projections. THE BEST VACATION EVER! I’ve been telling everyone I see that if they ever want to go to Provence, your tour is the only way to go. We’re afraid we’ll never find another tour that even comes close”. Susan and Mark. W. – Boston, MA
“I would love to take another trip with you. Your energy matched the group and your knowledge made us all feel welcome and an actual part of southern France–I truly appreciated it. I have never felt like such a comfortable “tourist” when traveling overseas. Thank you for the trip and for packing SO much into our 10 days. Now I have to go back! Again, thank you to you for taking such good care of us and helping us feel so at home in Provence. Lovely memories!” Judy S. – Dumfries, VA
“We thoroughly enjoyed everything! Our Best of France trip will always be one of our favorite memories – lovely places, lovely people. When Gary & I returned home, we were happy to be home again, but we both have a sense of wishing we could “beam over” for another few days with you & the group. We have spread the word about your wonderful company among our friends” Gary and Donna D. – Wilmington, SC
